He’s here! Beckam Wallace Lanham, our second baby boy, was eagerly welcomed into our world on July 21st, 2015 at 4:13 PM weighing 6 pounds 9 ounces and measured 18.5 inches long. Cannot believe this precious little guy is ours!
He gave me a super easy pregnancy, just like Big Bro, and allowed me to go go go right up to the end. I even managed to photograph a wedding 6 weeks prior to my due date which I am not recommending it but we made it through! My husband really wasn’t looking forward to eating Suzushi once or twice a week again with this pregnancy, but to our surprise, I didn’t really want to have anything to do with it. “We” just loved good home cooked meals, soul food (not necessarily the fried stuff, just fresh and tasty wholesome meals). Now comes delivery….during Romans delivery, the last 20 minutes I remember thinking to myself I don’t know if I can ever do this again., ep! With Beckam, we go in for our 37 week ultrasound and find out he was breech, they said it was highly unlikely he would turn head down at this point in pregnancy, so we scheduled a c-section to be done at 39 weeks. We were so bummed, not our initial plan, it wasn’t fun to be told you didn’t have a choice in the way you wanted to deliver. We prayed, and Beckam swam, literally! She said he had lots of fluid to do so and thankfully….we went in for our 38 week check and to everyone’s surprise he had turned head down! Thankfully, our Dr. allowed us to keep our planned date (for the c-section) but to induce. The day of his birth, his heart rate fluctuated so much that my Dr. said she could only allow me to push a FEW times, or we would have to do an emergency c-section. She ended up using the vacuum on him…so there was very little effort in my part and it happened so quickly. Thankfully, the extra dose of epidural I requested moments before go time, worked just in time and I didn’t feel any pain this go round! Nothing like that skin to skin time with God’s precious new life in your arms and such a special bond like no other. Another life we get to raise as ours and so very thankful he was in God’s plan for us.
Big brother Roman has been desiring and needing another warm little body in the house (other than the dogs!) to call his buddy. A little brother to call his friend, his family, his heart was so happy to finally meet him. (Funny…he still asks if I’m going to have another baby, this time he wants a girl!) Roman has had a few days of adjusting to Mommy and Daddy showing attention to another human in the house…that’s to be expected right!? He is so cute with him though, he shows the sweetest love and snuggles to little bro and can’t kiss on him enough! He loves him and takes care of him reminding us of his needs when he gets fussy. lol! My love for our first born grew tremendously on the car ride home from the hospital. I became emotional, it was literally overflowing! (silly, but similar to the Grinch when his heart grew 3 times it’s size or something like that, haha!) It’s true, I love these little guys SO BIG!
Now to our newest addition and bundle of J O Y, Beckam has been the SWEETEST baby with the most polite cry when he needs something. He is working on establishing his schedule, but getting closer. I do enjoy a predictable schedule and extended periods of sleep! He eats every 3-3.5 hours throughout the day and just about 4-5 hours in the middle of the night. Poor thing isn’t a big fan of bath time these days. He now weighs 8lbs and 9oz+…he measured 20 3/4 inches at his 4 week check. So he grew 2 inches long in 4 weeks since birth….(or maybe measuring was a bit inaccurate at the hospital, lol!) He also makes the cutest little baby sounds with his mouth…blows little precious raspberries and makes sounds similar to a tiny elephant blowing from his nose…haha!
Now for some highlight photos from his journey here and after! Special thanks to my sister, Jennifer Hullihan Photography for traveling all the way from Corpus to be here for the birth and take treasured hospital photos for us, edited by me. He was so tiny and skinny after delivery, I waited as long as I could allow myself to do his newborn photos at 10 days new. A few phone snapshots included and his first milestone photo!
Introducing our handsome little man, BECKAM WALLACE LANHAM!
